Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey maintains a great partnership with the Jersey Hills section of the National Council of Jewish Women’s; both offer the community safety nets to help support people in need.

NCJW’s goal is to give women and children a better life by empowering them to tackle the obstacles that are thrown their way. That is something JFCS also strives to do with everyone who steps through their doors.

NCJW-JHS has a knitting/crocheting group called TINK —that’s knit spelled backwards — that is comprised of volunteers and NCJW employees. TINK participants knit and crochet hats, scarves, and mittens, and donate them to local public schools. This year, for the first time, TINK partnered with JFCSNNJ to provide these essential winter garments to the clients JFCS serves. The donations have been welcomed at JFCS, which has seen a skyrocketing increase in its Corner Market Food Pantry distribution in recent months.

This year, JFCS held a toy drive; many dozens of toys were donated. NCJW’s generous donation of knit products helped round out the selection, allowing families to take home these much needed items that will keep them warm during the winter. TINK was so enthusiastic about creating these garments that its members already have started on the next year’s batch.

JFCS cherishes its partners; without them the organization would struggle to accomplish its mission of empowering people and helping improve their lives. If you or your organization would like to partner with JFCS in any way, email Michele Wellikoff, its chief development officer, at MicheleW@jfcsnnj.org, or call her at (201) 837-9090.
