Jewish law symposium is set for September 20
More than 800 attorneys and judges are expected to participate in the 17th annual Jewish Law Symposium on Wednesday, September 20, at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany. The symposium, a project of Rabbinical College of America, will feature a panel discussion, “Ethical Lessons from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” focusing on family feuds, vigilantism, and forgiveness. A virtual online viewing option will be available.
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin will introduce Rachel Wainer Apter, the newly appointed New Jersey Supreme Court justice. Rabbi Shalom Lubin, founder of the Jewish Law Symposium and Chabad of SE Morris County, will moderate a panel discussion with Hon. Ellen L. Koblitz (ret.), Kurt Olender Esq., and Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, a renowned scholar and author.
“The laws and ethics of the Talmud have served as a cornerstone of humanity’s civil and moral infrastructure, while shaping its legal judicial systems,” Rabbi Lubin said. “Navigating the biblical story of Joseph and family feuds, vigilantism, and forgiveness through the lens of both civil and Talmudic law, and 2,000 years of Jewish ethics and wisdom is very exciting.”
“I find this program to be intellectually stimulating and fascinating; I love attending every year and if you come to the symposium, you will walk away with a body of knowledge you will never forget,” program chair Cary B. Cheifetz, of Javerbaum Wurgaft Hicks Kahn Wikstrom & Sinins, P.C., said. For more information, call (973) 377-0707 or go to www.JewishLawSymposium.com.
