Jewish film festival also on Vimeo
The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County is holding its annual Winter Jewish Film Festival. Admission for each film is $10, it’s $40 for all five. Viewers interested in watching the films at their own convenience can sign up for a Vimeo link that makes the movie available in a 72-hour window.
Films include “Lost Transport” (2022), a Dutch film with English subtitles set in 1945, when a train deporting hundreds of Jewish prisoners gets stranded near a small German village occupied by the Red Army. “Where Life Begins” (2022), an Italian and French film with English subtitles, is about an ultra-Orthodox Jewish family from Aix-les-Bains that comes to a farm in Calabria for a brief stay every year to harvest citrons. “The Shadow of the Day” (2023) is an Italian film with English subtitles, about a dramatic love story, set in the provincial town of Ascoli Piceno in central Italy in the late 1930s. “No Name Restaurant” (2023) is a German comedy with English subtitles, set in Alexandria, Egypt, about efforts to save the synagogue of the once largest Jewish community in the world from being shut down.
