The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey recently hosted its 27th annual Mitzvah Day, bringing together more than 200 community members for a day dedicated to giving back through meaningful acts of kindness and service. The program featured initiatives designed to support people in need, both locally and around the world.

Highlights of the day included:

Snack Pack Station: Volunteers created care packages to support food-insecure students in need.

Friendship Bracelets: Participants crafted bracelets for the elderly and sick, reminding them that they are loved.

Cold Weather Bundles: Essential items were assembled to help people stay warm as winter approaches.

Letters to Nahariya: Handwritten notes were sent to soldiers and residents in Nahariya, Israel, the federation’s sister city, to bring them comfort during these challenging times.

These initiatives and many others demonstrated the community’s commitment to helping people in need. Recipients of the items included organizations such as the Franciscan Community Development Center and Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey.

The day was made possible through the support of sponsors including ShopRites of Paramus and Englewood and UNITS Moving & Portable Storage of Northern New Jersey. It was led by event co-chairs Tracy Blank Limbardo and Laurie Ann Weinstein and by Sari Scherer Gross, chair of the federation’s Volunteer Center.

Jewish Federation’s annual Mitzvah Day continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the impact a community can make when it comes together to help people in need.
