The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Waltuch Art Gallery in Tenafly presents “Portraits of Brooklyn and a Few old Friends,” paintings and drawings by Boris Lyubner. The show will run from September 3 to 28, with a meet-the-artist-reception on Tuesday, September 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Boris Lyubner graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Art — the same school where Marc Chagall failed to pass the entrance examination some 75 years earlier — and then immigrated to the U.S. For the next 20 years, he built a successful career as an illustrator with national and international clients that included Bank of America, Microsoft, Intel, Standard & Poor’s, Motorola, IBM, Ernst & Young, Toyota, Chrysler, and Nike.
