It’s not about free speech

It’s not about free speech

I never read an editorial that proved to be so incorrect (“Free speech is not the issue” Sept. 28)! The situation in Libya had nothing to do with a film only seen by a few who possessed a computer. It has been admitted that all that happened was planned ahead of time by an organized terrorist group. The average Muslim has never read the Koran. If he or she did, it would become apparent that it was written for three groups of persons: believers, non-believers, and those who would convert to Islam. Those who speak of Mohammed as perfect have not read the Koran. Mohammed was the Moses and the Jesus of Islam. In our time, Jews and Christians have witnessed insult to their images. Violence was not the result. Muslims have no justification for terrorism. Throughout the history of this country, men and women have sacrificed their lives to preserve each individual’s right of religious freedom and the freedom of speech. Yelling fire in a crowded theater immediately endangers others. A film or a picture of a religion’s prophet poses no such immediate threat. It is obvious that religious zealots involved in terrorism or in the philosophy of terrorism are involved. The dream of many Muslims, at present, is to re-establish the Great Caliphate. The mission of Islam is to have all of the earth’s inhabitants believe in Allah as their God. Remember, Islam arose because Christians did not follow the principles of Christ and Jews did not follow the laws of Moses!
