Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, Vered Adoni, assistant prosecutor in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and three Israeli prosecutors met with Rep. Steve Rothman (D-9) at his district office in Hackensack on Jan. 13.
The Israeli prosecutors – Irin Inbar Eisinger, Ruth Spielberg Cohen, and Shalva Lewin – were particularly interested in Rothman’s experience as a lawyer, judge, and lawmaker, and his unique perspective on the various roles those positions play in American society. The Israeli lawyers were participating in an exchange program run by the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey, in cooperation with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to learn about the American legal system.
“I am honored that these Israeli prosecutors came to my office to discuss America’s system of government,” Rothman told The Jewish Standard. “Israel is a strong and vibrant democracy, and these prosecutors play an important role in the Jewish state. The exchange program that brought the Israeli lawyers to the U.S. is a great initiative and I commend the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey and Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli for making it possible.”
