UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey issued the following statement on Monday:
UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey feels that no government can allow its citizens to be attacked as Israel’s citizens have been. We deplore the loss of any innocent life, but we know Israel had only one choice left to it: to rid the world of the terrorists killing and maiming its citizens.
Federation’s top priority now is to help the people of Israel. Here’s what we and our partners in Israel are doing:
Jewish Agency and Joint Distribution Committee staff were already present on the front lines and mobilized to assist people in the line of fire throughout the region. This includes trauma response, crisis management training, and providing temporary respite outside the region for the most vulnerable populations, including children, elderly, and the disabled.
UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey stands with the residents of southern Israel. We need to be sure that our neighbors, our government, and our media see the operation as a justified response to terror. We also need to mobilize all available resources to be sure the people of Israel receive help – and know that their brethren in northern New Jersey support them.
