An interfaith forum, “Welcoming the Stranger,” is set for Sunday, October 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Darul lslah Mosque, 320 Fabry Terrace in Teaneck. It is sponsored by Interfaith Women’s Initiative. Doors will open at 3:30.
The speakers — Rabbi Rachel Grant Meyer, the Reverend Beate Storck, and Dr. Heba Elkhateeb — each will make a presentation on how Judaism, Christianity, and Islam interpret their religious texts and traditions as a guide to view and interact with strangers, in both the past and the present. They will reflect on how these religious beliefs may lead to action in our own day. A question and answer session will follow as well as refreshments.
This is the third public education event the IWI sponsored in Bergen County. It is dedicated to the memory of June Handler of Hackensack, an IWI founder, who died last year.
