In support of Wiesenfeld

As a CUNY board member, Jeffrey Wiesenfeld is encouraged to voice his opinion regarding the bestowing of an honorary degree rather than rubber-stamping the recommendation. This is not only an obligation but a right of free speech. Delimiting this right or worse, punishing Mr. Wiesenfeld, is contrary to every principle of democracy.

Additionally, the Standard made an omission in only quoting former Mayor Koch and not including the remarks by former Sen. Alfonse D’Amato and former Gov. David Paterson, who commended Wiesenfeld for voicing his opinion regarding Kushner.
