Iftar program at Emerson shul

More than 90 people from local faith groups recently attended an Iftar dinner hosted by Emerson’s Congregation B’nai Israel with the Peace Islands Institute of Hasbrouck Heights. Attendees shared the experience of breaking the fast for the evening meal during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Hakan Yesilova discussed Ramadan’s meaning, and the speakers talked about the importance of standing together against hate.
