A commemorative service was held late last month at the Allison-Parris County Rockland County office building in New City to honor the lives lost to covid-19 this year. Since the end of March 2020, 909 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in the county.
Rockland’s county executive, Ed Day, was joined by local faith-based leaders for prayer and reflection during the candle lighting memorial. Remembering the almost 1,000 lives lost, Day said, “They were loved, and they will always be remembered.”
Among the clergy lighting memorial candles were Rabbis Craig Scheff of the Orangetown Jewish Center, and Yisroel Kahan of the Oizrim Jewish Council and the Rockland County Human Rights Commission.
