Last week, the Bergen County Office of Food Security, in partnership with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, distributed approximately 90,000 pounds of fresh produce to 40 Bergen County food pantries. The program was at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park.

Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Silna Zur, who was honored last week by Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern NJ, helps distribute produce.

The boxes of produce included staples like potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, apples, and plums. The goal was to help support Thanksgiving operations at local food pantries as they provide fresh, healthy food to thousands of families in Bergen County.

Participants included County Executive James J. Tedesco III, Commissioners Tracy Silna Zur and Rafael Marte, Assemblywoman Shama Hader; Mark Dinglasan, the executive director NJ Office of the Food Security Advocate; Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella; the Bergen County Office of Food Security, the Community Food Bank of NJ, and many volunteers from different Bergen County agencies.
