He’s grateful to the French

I fully agree with Harry Weissfisch about Germans (letters, June 12), except that lumping France with them is totally wrong. I was helped by numerous French people between 1940 to 1944, hiding and obtaining food for my father, who was in a camp in Gurs. From 1940 to 1942 I was at a youth home together with young people mostly from the famous SS St. Louis. In 1942, we were advised by the gendarmes that boys 16 and older will be arrested and sent to Drancy. We were saved by traveling to southern France and being helped by many French people.
