The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly holds its 20th anniversary Play Fore! the Kids annual golf classic on Monday, August 3, at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine. The annual event raises vital funds for children with disabilities, allowing the JCC to offer a wide range of meaningful programs and to support families with vital resources and social connections. The JCC is providing online group classes with adapted curricula, direct one-to-one outreach and personalized support, and resources and guidance for parents and caregivers during the pandemic.

Options for the classic include men’s and women’s tennis, a golf clinic, and 18-hole golf, with breakfast, on-course refreshments, and lunch as part of the package. There will also be a socially distant early evening cocktail dinner reception, with dietary laws observed, and auctions.

“The goal of the day is to share a safe day of fitness and fun with friends or family while connecting with a core JCC mission, which is to do our part to ensure that all children with disabilities have access to important support they need at this time and to make them feel included as valuable members of our community,” the JCC’s CEO, Jordan Shenker, said. “Our annual golf outing helps us succeed in this effort, and we are especially grateful to be able to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

The JCC is now taking reservations for foursomes, men’s and women’s tennis, and the golf clinic at jccotp.org/playforethekids.

A wide range of sponsorship opportunities also are available. This year, for the first time, it is possible to sponsor a foursome or donate online. Supporting this event in any way ensures that children and teens with disabilities get to participate in appropriate JCC programming geared for their specific needs, including children with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, neurological and cognitive impairments, communication and language differences, and physical challenges.

Presenting sponsors include the Kurtz and Spacadicini families, the Kaplen Foundation, and the Hechler family. Daniel Cohn, Cory Hechler, and Tracy Reichel are the event chairs, and the founding chairs are Michael Kollender, JoJo Rubach, and Barry Zeller.
