Golf and games to aid children

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly holds its 18th annual Play Fore! the Kids — Golf, Tennis, and Games day at the Montammy Golf Club, Alpine, on Monday August 6.

Participants can make reservations for foursomes and games — or for the evening festivities — at jccotp.org/playforethekids.

The day’s offerings include men’s and women’s tennis, a new women’s 9-hole game, and a full 18-hole package, and brunch. There also is mah jongg, bridge, or canasta; participants can play with friends or register as a single. The festivities continue into the evening with a cocktail dinner reception, prizes, awards, and online, live, and fisherman auctions that feature such items as sporting event packages and one-of-a-kind dream destinations.

“One of the JCC’s core missions is to ensure that all children with special needs have access to important life experiences that not only bring them new skills, but make them feel included as valuable members of our community,” the JCC’s CEO, Jordan Shenker, said. “Our annual golf and games event is one way we succeed in this effort, and we continue to expand our services each year to draw new participants and increase our impact.”

A wide range of sponsorship opportunities are available. Presenting sponsors include the Hechler family and the Kurtz and Spadaccini families. Event chairs include Daniel Cohn, Cory Hechler, and Tracy Reichel; auction co-chairs are Michel Fox Blum and Jamie Molluzzo; and Stephanie Cohn, Jenna Gutmann, and Jillian Somberg are the games and tennis co-chairs. Committee members include Brandis Bukzin, Becky Canarick, Nanette Greenberg, Amy Handman, Jonathan Marks, Sarah Nanus , Erica Polavieja, Jacqueline Pollack, Heather Rabinowitz, Beth Rubach, Eva Rubach, JoJo Rubach, Lindsay Skulnik, Joanna Wald, Hope Waxman, and Jill Zimmerman.

Proceeds will support programming for children with special needs. For information, call Michal Kleiman, (201) 408-1412, email her at mkleiman@JCCOTP.org, or go to www.jccotp.org/playforethekids.
