Getting ready for MOCCA

It’s almost time for MOCCA Fest.

First up is a pre-MOCCA event tomorrow:

Thursday, April 8, 7 PM
A FREE pre-MoCCA “Jewish Comix Panel” Join comics editor/promoter Jeff Newelt AKA JahFurry (Pekar Project, Heeb, SMITH, Royal Flush) and comics creators Miss Lasko-Gross (A Mess of Everything), Chari Pere (ChariPere.com), Eli Valley (EV Comics, The Jewish Daily Forward), and JT Waldman (Megillat Esther) as they discuss topics like “Why on Passover can you not draw comics on paper, only on matzoh?” and “Comics and kvetching, a match made on Krypton” and “Why has there not yet been a graphic novelization of Yentyl?”

The Big Lipowsky will be there and will report back afterward. And then on Sunday I’m heading to MOCCA FEST and I’m going to try my hardest to get to this panel Sunday morning:

A Special Holocaust Remembrance Day Presentation: Disney and Neal Adams Take on the Holocaust
Legendary comic book artist Neal Adams (Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Avengers: Kree Skrull War), Disney Educational Productions chief Lisa Clements, and Holocaust historian Dr. Rafael Medoff unveil their new collaboration: “They Spoke Out: American Voices of Protest Against the Holocaust,” a stunning series of motion comics that will revolutionize Holocaust education. Featuring the premiere of the first two episodes in the series.

See you in the funny pages.
