Genocide is genocide, period
Israel is considering whether to recognize as genocide the deaths of as many as a million and a half Armenians during World War I and the years that followed. For purely political reasons, Israel turned its back on the vicious acts of hatred perpetrated by the Turks on a minority population.
“[O]ur war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy…,” wrote genocide’s master practitioner in 1939. “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”
