Rebbetzins Shterney Kanelsky and Chani Lazar with a group of women from Russia who recently came to the United States. Chani Lazar is the wife of Moscow’s chief rabbi, Berel Lazar; Shterney Kanelsky, Bris Avrohom’s associate director, is the wife of its executive director, Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky. Nosh and Drash, a “course-in-a-box” prepared by the Jewish Theological Seminary, held its last class of the semester at Temple Emanuel of the Pascack Valley in Woodcliff Lake. This year’s course was “The Ethical Life;” and several area Conservative shuls used the material. The course uses printed texts, online video talks, and classroom discussions, moderated by a professional teacher. Rabbi Shelley Kniaz led the TEPV program.
