WIN, the Wayne Interfaith Network, a coalition of volunteers from houses of worship and service organizations in the greater Wayne area, provides ongoing provisions of non-perishable foods and other basic necessities for needy Wayne residents.
Donors can bring bags of non-perishable food and other basic necessities, including paper goods, toiletry items, and cleaning products, to one of the drop off areas in town: the Wayne Y (use the Jewish Family Services entrance); the Wayne Public Library or the Preakness branch; or the Wayne Municipal Building. All drop-offs should be made during building hours.
People who are moving or doing spring cleaning should consider donating their non-expired food to the food pantry.
Go to www.winfoodpantry.org for a list of what the pantry needs the most right now. Limit donations to regular sizes, not super sizes, and check that all expiration dates are current. Plastic or aluminum containers are preferable to glass. Items must be non-perishable, with no dents or cracks in cans or bottles, and no torn or open boxes or containers.
Anyone who needs supplies from the WIN food pantry should call the Wayne Township’s director of senior and social services at (973) 694-1800, ext. 3281. Groups and organizations planning to collect food and other basic necessities should first call (973) 595-1900. Donation can be made by check or money order mailed to the Wayne Interfaith Network, POB 3341, Wayne, NJ 07474-3341.
