Friends of the Israel Defense Forces offers “Behind the Headlines,” a new, virtual series that aims to provide exclusive access and insights into Israeli news and newsmakers, delivered by the people who actually shape the events. The series will also show the growing impact of the IDF on all aspects of Israeli society.
To date, lectures included Dr. Michael Halberthal, the general director of the Rambam Medical Center, and Dr. Lt. Col. Ariel Furer, the chief innovation officer of the IDF Medical Corps, discussing the corona wards at Rambam Medical Center. David Friedman, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, talked about Israel’s recent historic peace treaties and shared stories from the UAE treaty negotiations. Rabbi Steven Weil of Teaneck, FIDF national director and CEO, interviewed him.
On December 1, Col. Yuval Moshe, chief of the IDF Southern Command Engineering Corps, will discuss unearthing of terror tunnels. On December 8, IDF International’s spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus will talk about how to fight media bias against Israel. On December 22, Maj. Gen. Nadav Padan, the former head of the IDF central command, will address “Cyber Warfare: The New Dimension in Modern War.” Both Mr. Padan and Mr. Friedman will explore the military and diplomatic effects of the unique relationship between the United States and Israel. On December 29, a senior IDF commander will share experiences of combat soldiers serving along the Northern border.
“There are so many Israel and IDF supporters across America who follow the Israeli news on a daily basis and are deeply invested in the way things unfold on the other side of the ocean,” said FIDF National Director and CEO Steven Weil. “We wanted to provide these supporters with unique access to the details behind processes, policies, and important decisions directly from the people who affect the reality in Israel.”
