John McEnroe meets Dracula.
Or rather, Raz Tal, 9, of Teaneck, meets Roxy, his 4-year-old Corgi cousin.
This picture won Our Children’s Cute Pet Contest. It was taken March 2021 for Purim.
Raz, a 4th grader, had not cut his hair (Covid), and was thinking of long-haired celebrities who he could dress up as the holiday. He weighed Albert Einstein, but his youth and brown locks were better suited to dressing up as tennis champ John McEnroe, said his mother Jackie Tal of Teaneck.
“They were getting ready for an outdoor Purim party in the neighborhood and were all dressed up,” said Ms. Tal. “They looked at me and I got the picture. I thought it was cute, so I sent it in.”
Ms. Tal, a professional chef who pivoted from her private chef business recently opened a water business, HydroQuench2o in Township of Washington, where customers can purchase fresh purified and alkaline water.
As for the cute dog, Roxy is the family pet of her sister, Michele Thurber of Glen Rock.
While Roxy lives a bit away, the “cousins” see each other frequently and enjoy playing, she said.
“She’s a sweetheart,” Ms. Tal, said of Roxy. “She gets so excited when the boys (Raz, and his 13-year-old brother Adi) come to play. We’ve taken her all over when we go on vacation to Lake George or the Shore. She’s just great.”
