Differing world-views
Sen. Barack Obama and his advisers assume that Islamic terrorism is driven by despair, poverty, erroneous U.S. policy, and U.S. presence on Muslim soil in the Persian Gulf. On the other hand, Sen. John McCain maintains that Islamic terrorism is driven by ideology, which considers U.S. values (freedom of expression, religion, media, movement, market, and Internet) and U.S. power a most lethal threat that must be demolished. McCain’s world-view supports Israel’s battle against terrorism, demonstrating that the root cause of the Arab-Israel conflict is not the size but the existence of Israel.
