Cloud theft? Who knew?

Cloud theft? Who knew?

Wow, those Israelis are smart. Unscrupulous, but smart.

At least according to Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization, who accused Israel of manipulating the weather — specifically, cloud theft — to ensure that rain would not fall over Iran.

The Islamic Republic is suffering from drought.

“The changing climate in Iran is suspect,” Jalali told a press conference, Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency reported. “On top of that, we are facing the issue of cloud and snow theft,” he added, citing a survey showing that above 2,200 meters, all mountainous areas between Afghanistan and the Mediterranean are covered in snow — except in Iran.

The head of Iran’s meteorological service did not endorse Jalali’s claim. He “probably has documents of which I am not aware, but on the basis of meteorological knowledge, it is not possible for a country to steal snow or clouds,” said the head of Iran’s meteorological service Ahad Vazife, quoted by ISNA.

“Iran has suffered a prolonged drought, and this is a global trend that does not apply only to Iran,” Vazife said.

Rather than claiming credit for the problem, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered to help fix it. He told the Iranians that Israel faced similar water issues and found ways of dealing with them, adding that Israeli technology can help the Iranians.

General Jalali shows no signs of taking up Netanyahu’s offer.
