Staten Island artist Caryl Herzfeld will discuss some of the sculptures included in her art project, “Chesed in 3-D,” at a December 2 lunch and learn at Young Israel of Fort Lee at noon. The artworks were created with recycled paper and other recyclables.
In “Chesed in 3-D,” Ms. Herzfeld pays homage to her community, which, over the last half century, established self-help groups as needs arose, embodying chesed, acts of kindness.
The project was made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. It is administered by Staten Island Arts.
