Chanukah lightings in the community

These are the town-wide menorah lightings we’ve heard about so far. Check the Jewish Standard’s calendar section for many Chanukah celebrations in synagogues and community centers.

Woodcliff Lake, Allendale, River Vale, and Westwood 

Valley Chabad will host public menorah lighting celebrations with 9-foot menorahs erected across the Pascack and Saddle River Valley communities. Community leaders and local elected officials will be on hand for menorah lighting ceremonies, which will include dancing, singing, and Chanukah foods.

On Sunday, December 2, the menorah will be lit at the Westwood train station at 5 p.m. On Monday, December 3, the lighting will be at the Old Mill Pond in Woodcliff Lake at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, December 4, the lighting will be in front of the Gap at Tice’s Corner Marketplace in Woodcliff Lake at 5 p.m., and there will be another in front of the Allendale Library at 6. On Wednesday, December 5, the lighting will be in front of the River Vale Community Center at 6; dinner and a show for children will follow.

Fair Lawn

Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn lights the menorah in front of Fair Lawn’s Municipal Building on December 2 at 7 p.m., with the mayor and council members. www.jewishfairlawn.org/chanukah.

Paramus

Chabad of Paramus lights a menorah inside the Whole Foods Court in Bergen Town Center in Paramus on Wednesday, December 5, at 6 p.m. The Yeshivat Noam Choir will sing. Another menorah will be lit inside Paramus Borough Hall, 1 West Jockish Square, with the mayor on Thursday, December 6, at 6 p.m. The Ben Porat Yosef Choir will sing, and there will be the “Paramus Gelt Drop,” with the Paramus Fire Department. Glen Rock

Glen Rock’s town-wide menorah lighting will be outside Kilroy’s Wonder Market on Thursday, December 6, at 6 p.m. Glen Rock families, the Chabad Jewish Center of Northwest Bergen County, and the Glen Rock Jewish Center host a privately funded celebration with live music, food, and fun. 288 Rock Road. Wyckoff, Mahwah, and Franklin Lakes

The Chabad Jewish Center holds town hall menorah lightings and Chanukah celebrations with the participation of the mayors and local officials. Judah Maccabee & the Dreidel Man will be there, and there will be music, hot Chanukah refreshments, crafts, glow giveaways, and a grand raffle.

The menorah lighting in Wyckoff is in front of Town Hall on Sunday, December 2, at 5 p.m. There will be a celebration and lighting at Mahwah Town Hall on Monday, December 3, at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, December 4, at 6 p.m., the lighting will be at the Franklin Lakes Borough Hall.

Wayne

Wayne holds a community menorah lighting with Temple Beth Tikvah, Congregation Shomrei Torah, Chabad of Passaic County, and the Wayne Y, Thursday, December 6, at 7 p.m., at Wayne Town Hall, 475 Valley Road.

Fort Lee

Members and friends of the JCC of Fort Lee light the menorah at the Triangle on Main Street and Lemoine Avenue, Saturday, December 8, at 5:45 p.m. Afterward, there is Havdalah at the shul and a Chanukah party. 1449 Anderson Ave. For more information, call (201) 947-1735. 

Englewood

Chabad of Englewood hosts a community menorah lighting on Sunday, December 2, at 6 p.m., at City Hall in downtown Englewood. There will be Chanukah music and latkes.
