Chanukah in Ramsey
Ramsey achieved a historic milestone at the Ramsey Community Center on December 13, with its first Chanukah menorah lighting. There were about 100 attendees, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and bringing together residents and families of all ages. Jennifer Sauer and Donielle Offerman Leigh organized the program.
Guests included Ramsey’s Mayor Deirdre Dillon and council members, Dr. Andrew Matteo, the school superintendent, and Laura Behrmann, president of its board of education. Eliza Scheffler, the assistant rabbi at Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes, led the festivities, and Alice Heffner of Ramsey led a singalong. There were also sufganiyot (donuts), and dreidel games with chocolate gelt.
