Challah bake in Passaic
Hundreds of women are expected to gather on October 22 at Congregation Tifereth Israel in Passaic to bake a communal challah.
The event, Passaic/Clifton Comm-Unity Challah Bake, is part of the global Shabbat Project (www.theshabbosproject.org), which aims to mobilize more than one million Jews worldwide to pause and observe the Sabbath together on October 23 to 24.
The Shabbat Project was born two years ago in Johannesburg, and spread across social media to grow into a global grassroots movement. Thousands of local events are planned this year, including synchronized challah baking, communal meals, prayer services, concerts and weekend-long celebrations.
