A Holocaust survivor, his daughter, and his grandchildren visited Auschwitz and other concentration camps across Europe and filmed themselves dancing to Gloria Gaynor’s “I will survive.”
View the video here. There are two other parts on Youtube of the survivor speaking to his grandchildren about his experiences.
Reactions to the video have been mixed in the comments on Youtube, Facebook, and even within the offices of The Jewish Standard. Some call the video a celebration of life and testament to the human spirit. One Facebook poster equated the video with spitting on Hitler’s grave.
Others have called the video disrespectful to all those who did not survive, and used words like “grotesque.”
