Celebrating Israel’s founding

A gala Teaneck-area Orthodox community-wide celebration of Israel’s 70th anniversary is set for Yom Ha’atzmaut — Wednesday, April 18 — at 7:15 p.m., at the Jewish Center of Teaneck.

The evening begins with Mincha, followed by a Yom Hazikaron presentation from an Israeli soldier, and Ma’ariv. It continues in the shul’s social hall, which will be transformed into a shuk Yisraeli, with Israeli food, music, and experiential activities focusing on Israeli culture, geography, and history. It concludes with Shirei Eretz Yisrael — classic Israeli folk songs — in the sanctuary.

Local synagogues sponsoring the celebration include Beth Aaron, Beth Abraham, Bais Medrash of Bergenfield, Bnai Yeshurun, Jewish Center of Teaneck, Keter Torah, Netivot Shalom, Ohr Hatorah, Ohr Saadya, Rinat Yisrael, Shaare Tefillah, Shaarei Orah, Young Israel, and Zichron Mordechai.

The event, sponsored by Nathan and Shari Lindenbaum, is geared for everyone in sixth grade or older.
