This past Sunday, as it does one spring Sunday in every non-pandemic year, the Celebrate Israel parade marched up Fifth Avenue. (Many of us, though, still do remember it as Salute to Israel, although fewer of us have any idea why the name was changed.)
The politics might have been even more fraught than usual this year, but it didn’t dampen the obvious joy that filled the marchers, and it was a gorgeous day to be out, distilled essence of glorious late spring.
Many of the local day schools sent contingents of marchers, and then most of them sent us photos.
