Caring doesn’t stop during a crisis

Aveanna Concierge Services provides support to older adults in the community through the provision of high-quality private-pay homecare services. Professional caregivers help with a range of services from companionship to personal care to support for those at end-of-life. As a healthcare provider and essential service, Aveanna Concierge Services has been open for business and meeting the needs of clients and their families throughout the covid-19 pandemic. Over the past 3 months, as new information has been coming from the CDC and the governor’soffice, Aveanna Concierge Services has been updating protocols to insure the safety of clients, caregivers, office staff, and the clinical team.

An array of protocols have been implemented to limit exposure for clients and caregivers.

• Aveanna rolled out its own Safety Pledge whereby employees have been encouraged to go out for work and essential needs only.

• Caregiver schedules have been adjusted to minimize the number of clients they visit during the week. When possible, clients were transitioned to live-in care so that both the client and caregiver can quarantine together.

• Clinical staff continue to be available when needed for in-person visits but all non-essential visits have been done virtually. Facetime and WhatsApp have allowed Aveanna nurses and social workers to stay connected and check in on clients and caregivers while remaining physically distant.

• Caregivers have “suited up.” Aveanna has provided caregivers with proper PPE according to CDC guidelines and New Jersey protocols. Best practices for infection control have been communicated and reinforced insuring safety in client homes.

In addition to those affected by covid-19 directly, many older adults have seen a decline in their physical and mental health due to challenges of addressing non -life threatening medical issues at the height of the pandemic and ongoing social isolation. As New Jersey enters Phase Two of the reopening plan, it is important to remain vigilant. While businesses are reopening many older adults will need to continue to stay at home. Homecare will continue to be integral to providing physical and emotional support to those who are most vulnerable. Aveanna will continue its commitment to the dual missions of providing high-quality care while protecting the safety of all clients and employees.  (Aveanna)
