Camp Merritt in World War I

Howard Bartholf gives a presentation about the history of Camp Merritt New Jersey, a way-station during World War I, for the Englewood Historical Society. The presentation will cover the period from when construction began in August 1917 to its closing, in July 1920, and to the present. Mr. Bartholf, the author of “Camp Merritt,” grew up in Bergen County and served in the U.S. Army. His family lived in Englewood in the early 1900s. The book includes photos of Jewish soldiers.

The program is on Thursday, October 18, at the Englewood Public Library. For information, call (201) 568-2215 or go to englewoodlibrary.org.
