Calls Cantor a ‘shanda’
In response to Harold Lerman’s letter in the Oct. 21 issue, I have to ask how Rep. Eric Cantor can be considered moral if he refuses to allow federal aid to victims of natural disasters as has always been done in the past.
How can he be considered fiscally responsible when he and the rest of the GOP voted to cut taxes on the wealthy with borrowed money during a time of war, thereby increasing the federal deficit by $800 billion?
And how can he be considered honorable when he represents, in Congress, not his constituents, but the large corporations and the wealthy?

He and the other Republican House members ran, in 2010, on promises to create jobs, yet they haven’t brought any kind of jobs bill up for a vote. Instead they attacked Planned Parenthood, which provides women’s health services for the poor0; and they attacked Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, which keep our elderly from falling further into poverty.
No, Mr. Lerman, with all due respect, Eric Cantor is not someone to be proud of. He’s a shanda – an embarrassment to the Jewish people and to the American people in general.
