Bris Avrohom held its 41st annual dinner on November 8. It was on the lawn of Congregation Shomrei Torah Ohel Yosef Yitzchok — Bris Avrohom Center, and it honored the new sefer Torah that the community has commissioned. All covid protective measures were put in place for the all-day affair, with 15 couples allowed in per hour.
A total of 150 letters were written for the beginning of the Unity Torah; the rest of it will be written in Jerusalem.
Kevin Corbett, president & CEO of New Jersey Transit, received the community service award for his help in spreading the lights of Chanukah to tens of thousands of travelers in New Jersey. Tzvi Odzer and Alan Schall, the dinner chairs, received awards for their leadership and dedication to Bris Avrohom.
The participants each sponsored letters and parshas. Community leaders including Rabbi Avrohom Herman, Rabbi Jonathan Schwartz, and Rabbi Elazar Meir Teitz of the JEC in Elizabeth were honored with writing letters. When couples left, they received a dinner for two to go, and a bottle of Bartenura champagne sponsored by Royal Wine Corp.
