On November 11, Bris Avrohom held its annual gala wedding ceremony at the Sheraton Parsippany. It hosted more than 400 guests.

Eight couples from the former Soviet Union, including two from Fair Lawn, were married according to Jewish tradition. To date, Bris Avrohom has married about 960 couples since it began the annual event 33 years ago.

New Jersey’s lieutenant governor, Sheila Y. Oliver, gave the keynote and was presented with a menorah and a bouquet.

Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky presented the Community Service award to three honorees from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey who help Bris Avrohom celebrate Chanukah with travelers by lighting menorahs under their jurisdiction. They are Dianne Ehler, director of tunnels, bridges, and terminals; Jennifer Davis, chief of intergovernmental affairs; and Janice Stein, engineer of projects.
