The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies held its annual gala at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel. Fred Nagler, its principal, was emcee, and the shul’s Rabbi Ronald Roth gave the d’var Torah.

The L’Dor V’Dor award was presented to David Goodman and Dr. Hope Schlossberg, recognizing them as community leaders who further Jewish continuity by actively supporting educational and social programs for Jewish teens, and for being role models for active Jewish engagement.

Alex and Doug Sobelman were the parent honorees, Rabbi Shelley Kniaz of Temple Emanuel of the Pascack Valley was BCHSJS’ educator of the year, and Barnett Goldman received the exemplary service award for his seven years at BCHSJS.

BCHSJS graduating seniors also were honored with a video presentation and speeches by two of the seniors, Camryn Bolkin and David Stack.
