Giving back is so much a part of what a bar or bat mitzvah learns as he or she enters Jewish adulthood and responsibility. So, it made sense for Avery Brown to raise funds for BARK (Bonnie’s Animal Rescue Kingdom) in Paramus. After all, his two family’s dogs, Lexii and Starr came from animal rescue shelters, including Bonnie’s.
“I wanted to give back and raise money for Bonnie’s so they can take even better care of their animals,” said Avery, who lives in Paramus, and is an 8th grader at Soloman Schechter Day School of Bergen County.
“I just think they are doing a beautiful thing trying to find the right people and good families for the dogs.”
Avery vowed to match 10 percent of his $1,800 goal. He intends to help shop for items that are needed at the facility.
“I’m very excited,” said Avery about his upcoming bar mitzvah, scheduled for October 23 at Chabad of Tenafly, with a party at RAIN in Teaneck, and to help BARK.
