Author and former U.S. Ambassador John L. Withers II speaks about his book, “Balm in Gilead: A Story from the War,” for Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey’s Jewish Community Relations Committee. The book describes how, years after John L. Withers’ all-black U.S. Army unit sheltered two Jewish boys from Dachau, his son, John L. Withers II, searched for the backstory.
