The social action committee at Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston sponsored a collection called “Christmas Bags of Cheer.” Congregants decorated brown bags with special holiday messages and decorations and filled them with new socks, a packet of hot chocolate, candy cane, prepackaged cookies, and fruit. More than 250 bags were received and donated to Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors, who distributed the bags to Saint Ann’s, Saint Michael’s, and Saint John’s churches in Newark.

Another donation, of about 500 stuffed animals, from PetSmart and Temple B’nai Abraham, was delivered to some churches in Newark, including Saint Michael’s and Saint Rocco’s. Ken and Nancy Bernstein coordinated the stuffed toy donation. Lisa Reisboard and Terri Friedman were the project coordinators. Janet Penn and Ruth Ross chair the social action committee.
