American Jews plan relief efforts in wake of Israeli blaze
UJA-NNJ collecting donations
Donations that come into the emergency mailbox opened by UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey will support the relief efforts of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Joint Distribution Committee.
They include financial support for the families of the 42 victims killed in the fire (to provide each family with a one-time grant), grants for the 51 children orphaned by the fire on Mount Carmel (to provide funds for achievement of educational goals), recreational activities for the 4,418 children from the Carmel region (to provide relief for the youth who experienced this traumatic event), special programs and services, including post-trauma care and psycho-social support, for the most vulnerable populations of the region, including the elderly, children and families, immigrants, and people with disabilities, programs and services for the disadvantaged children and youth from the Carmel region, coordination of volunteer efforts to restore the Carmel region, including forests and nature reserves in the area, and economic redevelopment and entrepreneurship initiatives.
One hundred percent of contributions received in the mailbox will go directly to help the victims and their families.
