American Airlines has canceled its sole route to Israel for financial reasons. According to Casey Norton, the airline’s director of corporate communications, “Over the last year, the Philadelphia to Tel Aviv route lost more than $20 million. In fact, the route has not made an annual profit since it was started in 2009.” This quote was taken from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency article.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter requested that the airline change their mind because the mayor was trying to introduce economic ties between Philadelphia and Israeli companies.
We couldn’t find a video of the story but found a clip of the beautiful airplanes.
Seems that El Al won’t be very sad at the loss of its competitor. Comments?
