Aging technology expo in Rockleigh

The Jewish Home Family’s Gallen Day Center hosts a technology expo on Sunday, October 8. It will focus on the ways technology can assist with vibrant aging, enhancing life for seniors and their loved ones.

The expo will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gallen Center, on the campus of the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, 10 Link Drive in Rockleigh.

Presentations will take place on the half-hour and will address topics including “Smartphone Emergency Preparedness” and “Boxing for Neurological Health.” Exhibits will showcase technologies to enhance home and driving safety, as well as specialized computing solutions optimized for seniors.

There also will be the opportunity to experience the use of the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality system, a reminiscence therapy that transports participants to their childhood homes, for example, or to the site of their first date.

The Gallen Center is a medical adult day program that serves residents of all faiths living in Bergen and Rockland counties, providing stimulating program.
