‘Not an adjunct of the United States’
With generous amounts of aid and credits for armaments, it cannot be denied that the United States has a loyal and generous relationship with Israel. It has become evident, however, that many of our Jewish brethren do not think so and they feel that the present administration does not give full backing to Israel when it takes actions that are inimical to peace in the region.
Isn’t it reasonable to consider that the United States has strategic interests in the Middle East that must be maintained and that these interests cannot always coincide with Israeli policy?
Personally, I love and support Israel, but it is clear to me – and should be clear to those who criticize – that the nation of Israel is not an adjunct of the United States.
