‘Memorable and unifying moment’
I very much appreciated your follow-up coverage of the memorable Birkat HaChamah (blessing the sun) event that took place in Votee Park on April 8. The caption under your published photo indicates that there were “more than 300 people” in attendance. Actually, the policemen who were present estimated that there were more than 2,000 people who had gathered early on that chilly morning to mark the special occasion. In fact, the coordinators of the event had prepared 1,800 prayer sheets, all of which were distributed, requiring many others to share. The thousands who had gathered that day experienced an incredibly memorable and unifying moment in our community’s history.
