ADL and the Caspi swastika

ADL and the Caspi swastika

On Sept. 8, erev Rosh HaShanah, vandals spraypainted a swastika on a billboard featuring the Sacramento Kings’ Omri Caspi, the first Israeli to play in the NBA.

The Anti-Defamation League has announced that it is offering a reward for information.

“The defacement of Omri Casspi’s likeness with a swastika – an ugly symbol of hate – is disturbing and an affront to the Jewish community and the Sacramento community at large, which has welcomed Israeli-born Casspi with open arms,” said Dan Sandman, director of ADL’s Central Pacific Region, which includes Sacramento, in a statement.

Anyone with information should contact the Sacramento Citizen’s Crime Alert Program at (916) 443-4357 or to text 274637.

How the ADL defines the swastika has been a hot topic as of late. See below.

The ADL’s new context for the swastika.

The definition was put to the test recently in Fort Lee.
