The pinot noir grape has seen a surge in popularity since 2004, and California remains the No. 1 producer of the grape in the United States, but following closely is Oregon. In 2006, winemakers Phillip and Sheryl Jones, of New Zealand’s Goose Bay Winery, purchased 95 acres in Oregon and named their new winery Pacifica, the first kosher winery in the state. Pacifica unveiled two wines at the KFWE: A 2010 meritage and a 2010 pinot noir.
