Upper Nyack shul welcomes Israeli search and rescue unit

Congregation Sons of Israel in Upper Nyack is hosting “Meet the Heroes of Unit 669-Israel’s Elite Search and Rescue Unit.” Unit 669, which is marking 45 years of service, is the Israeli Air Force’s combat search and rescue units The program is on Sunday, September 20, at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments follow the program.

The unit’s mission is to rescue casualties — both soldiers and civilians — anywhere, and under any conditions, whether it’s enemy territory under hostile fire or civilians caught in emergency situations. The American Friends of Unit 669 is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization established to support the alumni and welfare of the soldiers of the IDF elite Unit 669.
