The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly will hold a free community membership open house on Sunday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. New and prospective members can tour the facility, see fitness programs, and meet staff in-person to learn about the exciting programming it offers to families and individuals of all ages to improve their health. All covid-19 safety precautions are in place.
“Our goal is to engage our community by showcasing who and what we are as a welcoming community center,” the JCC’s CEO, Jordan Shenker, said. “It’s the perfect opportunity to show our community the benefits that come with JCC membership for the whole family.”
Programs and facilities available to JCC members include two state-of-the-art fitness centers, an outdoor splash park and pools, year-round indoor pools, complimentary group exercise classes, in-person, virtual live classes, the J-On Demand library, CPR-trained swim instructors and lessons for all ages, basketball and tennis courts, and access to a luxurious spa with massages and facials. Members enjoy discounts to the Early Childhood Center, Neil Klatskin Summer Camps, Thurnauer School of Music, School of Dance and Drama, cultural and learning programming for adults, and more.
The Kaplen JCC is offering a special promotion, a free gift for new members who join during the open house. There also will be no registration fee and no membership payment until November.
At 9 a.m., JCC yoga instructors Jill Schwalbe and Alison Miller will lead “Rise and Shine with Yoga on the Lawn.” If it rains, it will be held in the Kaplen Gymnasium. Participants are asked to RSVP at jccotp.org/event/yogaonthelawn to join the free program.
There will also be an in-person meet-and-greet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; it’s an opportunity to learn about the in-person and virtual offerings for adults of all ages.
