The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey’s recent FedTalks speaker series featured Seth Davis, the executive director of IsraAID, who spoke about the Israeli-based organization.

IsraAID’s mission is to save lives during a crisis, and then change lives by actively supporting local and national decision-makers as they build a sustainable future. Mr. Davis talked about sending humanitarian and disaster relief missions in places around the world, including to Nepal, the island of Dominica, and California, and of providing aid to Syrian refugees in the waters off of Greece. While there are many emergency relief organizations that help areas and populations struck by large-scale disasters, what makes IsraAID unique is its ability to send delivery aid to affected areas rapidly. IsraAID workers remain for months — at times even for years — helping survivors deal with the long-term effects of traumatic events.

The next FedTalk Israel is set for Monday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Tal Heinrich of i24 News, an international news station based in Tel Aviv and New York, who will discuss “International Media Bias Against Israel.”
